On July 27, Clyde Valentín will start his day at an art summit in Chicago before heading to the AMERI’KANA outdoor music festival in Kansas City, MO, as part of the nationwide “Arts for Everybody” initiative. Chicago and the Inner-City Muslim Action Network are hosting events Saturday as part of the national “Arts for Everybody” initiative, highlighting the role of arts in community health. Go Green Griot Plaza is opening on previously vacant land. Created to celebrate Englewood’s artistic heritage, it will feature musical performances, mural unveilings, live art demonstrations, and family-friendly activities. The plaza, located at 63rd Street and Racine Avenue, is part of a revitalization effort by IMAN and other local groups under the Go Green On Racine initiative. Named after West African storytellers known as griots, the plaza aims to foster community engagement and celebrate Englewood's cultural legacy through art and performance.
